TwoOhSix Picks - The 2015 Tacoma Film Festival

It's time once again for The TwoOhSix to travel to the 253 to give you the 411 on the Tacoma Film Festival. This year's lineup looks to be one of the best ever with lots of special events and premieres to go along with a full roster of feature films and shorts programs beginning on Thursday October 8th and running through Thursday the 15th. Below you will find my "TwoOhSix Picks for this year's festival. These are the films I have selected as the ones you do not want to miss.

Killing June (LSFF 2015) - Movie Review

Killing June is a locally produced film written and directed by Isaiah Corey with co writing credit going to Arne Bystrom. This crowd funded feature film which is an official selection of the Northwest Film Forum's "Local Sightings" film festival, stars Seattle resident Wonder Russell and Spokane native Nathan Pringle.

The Green Inferno - Movie Review

The Green Inferno is a horror movie written, directed, and produced by genre expert Eli Roth. The film stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Aaron Burns, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Magda Apanowicz, Daryl Sabara, Nicolás Martínez, Sky Ferreira, and Ramon Llao.

Drawing the Tiger (LSFF 2015) - Documentary Review

Drawing the Tiger, directed by Amy Benson and Scott Squire, is an official selection of the 2015 Local Sightings Film Festival which is produced by Seattle's Northwest Film Forum. This documentary feature follows a family in Nepal over the course of several years as they try to build a better life yet find themselves constantly struggling just to survive.

Pitch Perfect 2 - Movie Review

Pitch Perfect 2, directed by Elizabeth Banks who also stars in the film, is the sequel to the break out musical hit from 2012 which was written by Kay Cannon and Mickey Rapkin. The movie stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, Skylar Astin, Adam DeVine, Katey Sagal, Anna Camp, Ben Platt, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Ester Dean, Chrissie Fit, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Flula Borg, and John Michael Higgins.

Everest - IMAX or Cinerama?

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is directed by Wes Ball who was also behind the cameras for the first installment of the franchise which is based on novels written by James Dashner. The movie stars Dylan O'Brien, Ki Hong Lee, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Dexter Darden, Alexander Flores, Jacob Lofland, Rosa Salazar, Giancarlo Esposito, Patricia Clarkson, Aiden Gillen, Lili Taylor, Barry Pepper, and Alan Tudyk.

Audition (PDXFF15) - Documentary Review

Audition is a documentary film making competition created by writer and director Matt Herron. This unique behind the scenes look at casting a motion picture is an official selection of and is making its world premier at the 2015 Portland Film Festival.

The Visit - Movie Review

The Visit is M. Night Shyamalan's take on the found footage horror genre in conjunction with Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions label which has been responsible for franchises like Paranormal Activity and Insidious. The movie stars Olivia DeJonge, Ed Oxenbould, Deanna Dunagan, Peter McRobbie, and Kathryn Hahn.

TwoOhSix Picks: 2015 "Local Sightings" Film Festival

Local Sightings is the only festival dedicated to showcasing the best in Northwest regional films. Taking place Sept. 24-Oct.3 at Northwest Film Forum, the lineup will include the premieres of 15 feature films and over 50 shorts from up-and-coming directors from Alaska to Oregon. Seattle Shorts Film Festival Announces 2015 Lineup

The city of Seattle's cinema scene seems to have a never ending supply of creative and innovative programming with one of its more unique events returning this November. The Seattle Shorts Film Festival which this year takes place on November 14th and 15th, promises to be bigger and better than ever before with an expanded schedule and a lineup of films that are sure to impress. This week marks the four year anniversary of this here website, TwoOhSix.com and I would like to take a moment to thank anyone who has ever read any of the articles I have posted over that time as well as the entire film making industry for providing me with stuff to write about. I have had the honor and privilege of meeting so many people in the industry and having the opportunity to provide coverage for various film festivals and other events has been a truly amazing experience.

For Love & Broken Bones (PDXFF15) - Movie Review

For Love & Broken Bones, directed and co-written by Tebogo Malope, is an official selection of the 2015 Portland Film Festival. This South African drama stars Mduduzi Mabaso, Lerato Mvelase, Desmond Dube, and introduces Mashala Letsoalo as Thabo.

Angkor's Children (PDXFF 2015) - Documentary Review

Angkor's Children is a documentary filmed in Cambodia by director Lauren Shaw and is an official selection of both the 2015 Portland Film Festival and the 2015 Seattle International Film Festival. The film focuses on young women who are using art to help affect change in a country filled with oppression thanks to the Khmer Rouge regime.

Birds of Neptune (PDXFF 2015) - Movie Review

Birds of Neptune is an indie drama written, produced, and directed by Portland native Steven Richter and is the featured film of opening night for the Portland Film Festival. The movie stars Britt Harris, Molly Elizabeth Parker, Kurt Conroyd, Lauren Luiz, and Christian Blair.

Sinister 2 - Movie Review

Sinister 2, directed by Ciarán Foy, continues the original story written by Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill. The movie stars James Ransone, Shannyn Sossamon, Robert Daniel Sloan, Dartanian,Sloan, Lea Coco, Lucas Jade Zumann, Nicholas King, and John Beasley.
