This is the End - Movie Review

Okay, seriously. Look at the poster for This is the End and tell me you don't think its going to be hilarious. For my part, all you have to do is say James Franco and Seth Rogen are in the movie and I'm down to see it. Then you throw in Hill, Baruchel, Robinson, and McBride and my expectation level goes even higher. Add in the fact that Rogen wrote and directed the film with longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg and you now have a formula for success that will not be denied.

You ever sit down to watch a movie and you're not quite sure what to expect? Sometimes it turns out great and sometimes you want to just erase the whole thing from your brain. The marketing team behind this movie has done a great job keeping most of the story under wraps which is good because not having any idea what's going to happen next just adds to the "Oh My God!!" and "No, they didn't!!!" factor that makes this a really special experience that will have you in tears before its over.

Fine, I'll give you a little bit of the plot. Jay Baruchel has flown into Los Angeles to visit with his lifelong pal Seth Rogen (Yes, everyone is playing themselves in the movie!) and, after smoking, drinking, and consuming various chemicals together, they are off to James Franco's house where the rest of the guys in the movie poster are partying along with Michael Cera, Emma Watson, David Krumholtz, and a bunch of their other Hollywood friends. About halfway through the night...all hell breaks loose.

What do I mean "all hell breaks loose"? Go watch the movie.

No, I'm not going to tell you anything else about the plot. Also, if you're looking for a breakdown of the acting performances in this motion picture, I will only tell you that each of the main characters, and most of the supporting cast, all play themselves in a sort of stylized reality that pokes fun at what we know about each of them. As you can see in the photos, they do spend a lot of time running away from stuff and generally being scared out of their minds. At least when they're not arguing, smoking, drinking, or otherwise causing their own chaotic situations.

If you are a fan of the actors in this movie, you are going to have a great time. If you like to laugh until your stomach hurts and tears are rolling down your face then you should watch this movie. If you like stuff that's awesome then you should seriously go see This is the End.

This is a Red Band trailer which means there's lots of cursing and stuff.
