The Story: An untested American submarine captain teams with U.S. Navy Seals to rescue the Russian president, who has been kidnapped by a rogue general.
The Review:
This is a pretty standard naval operation to save the world from plunging into war movie and doesn't provide anything we haven't see before. Normally, Gerard Butler action movies are fun because he is in them but, this time around, he is stuck in a submarine and left to posture and give orders. Not that exciting. The story is a flag waving tale patriotism and military might bordering on propaganda yet still manages to be an unmemorable retread of similar fare we've seen in the past. All that being said, it was still kind of fun to watch. Check it out if you want a couple hours of mindless entertainment.
