The Review:

Giant Robots Fighting Giant Monsters!!!!

I had a lot of fun watching the movie for the simple fact that it features giant robots fighting giant monsters. When the first movie came out, it basically fulfilled a lifelong need of having a modern blockbuster style movie that was all about giant robots fighting giant monsters and it was everything I wanted it to be. This time around, the film makers took things a little less seriously and added a high energy, youthful style that reminded me a bit of Starship Troopers just without all the blood and nudity. The cast is younger and sexier and they all flirt with each other. Kind of.

Giant Robots Fighting Giant Monsters!!!!

You have to see this movie on the biggest screen you can find because it's mostly about giant robots fighting giant monsters. I say mostly because when the giant robots aren't fighting giant monsters they are fighting other giant robots which is almost as cool! The special effects are phenomenal, all the robots do more cool things than in the first movie, and you are going to enjoy every moment of giant robots fighting giant monsters.

(Yes, I am aware the giant robots are more like vehicles than robots because they have human pilots but whatever. Deal with it.)

The Verdict:
Pacific Rim: Uprising is as good or as bad as you want it to be and you will probably have made your decision before the movie even starts. I went in expecting to have fun watching giant robots fight giant monsters and that's exactly what happened.

The film makers did not use IMAX or 3D cameras to make this movie so any IMAX, 3D, or IMAX 3D presentations will be post conversations which now days are pretty solid. Just stay away from the mall IMAX screens and you'll be fine.
