The Review:
Disney is very good at what they do. The formulas and algorithms and study groups and all the other ways they come up with products and experiences has been fine tuned to a razor sharp edge over decades of practice/ While this movie is a fine example of that work, it also shows how creating something from that type of process can leave you entertained yet a bit empty inside. Sure, the movie is fun and does all the right things it's supposed to do, it's just not very memorable in any way.

I'm not saying it's a bad movie, I had a lot of fun watching it, I'm just saying it's very formulaic and lacks the emotional punch that has elevated some Disney films to classic status. One of the things that did bother me a bit was how Disney decided to spend so much time making fun of it's own history and movie making techniques. I wouldn't have minded a few jabs here and there but it almost feels like the whole point of the movie was to make fun of Disney movies.

The animation of course is brilliant and you will see all of the appropriate adjectives of adoration thrown its way and for good reason. The colors are big, bold, and eye popping in just about every way. I did  not see the movie in 3D although I imagine it is stunning in the format and well worth the upgrade as Disney animated features usually are.

The Verdict:
Ralph Breaks the Internet is a solid effort from Disney Animation Studios. It is fun and it is entertaining although you may not remember much about it as time goes by. Definitely a great movie for families to enjoy as it has plenty of action and humor for all ages.
