Minari - 2020 HIFF Capsule Review

The Movie: Minari

The Director: Lee Isaac Chung

The Cast: Steven Yeun, Han Ye-ri, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho, Scott Haze, Youn Yuh-jung, Will Patton

The Story: A Korean family moves to Arkansas to start a farm in the 1980s.

Capsule Review:
Minari is a beautifully written story about a Korean immigrant family's perspective on the American dream and features stellar performances from a cast that is highlighted by Steven Yeun and Han Ye-ri. The movie is primarily a family drama although writer and director Lee Isaac Chung adds in bits of comedy and social commentary to create a very well rounded and timeless story.

Minari is an official selection of the 2020 Hawaii International Film Festival.
