The Movie: Mārama
Capsule Review:
Taratoa Stappard's feature film debut is a dark and downright scary trip through the effects of colonization in the mid 1800's from the perspective of Mārama, a Maori woman forced to come to terms with and reconcile her heritage. This is true gothic horror with a little bit of revenge porn mixed in for good meaure.
