TwoOhSix Picks - 2017 "Local Sightings" Film Festival

Northwest Film Forum's Local Sightings Film Festival is celebrating it's 20th year and 2017 promises to be the best and most innovative event yet. From September 22nd through the 30th, attendees will be able to enjoy feature films, short films, workshops, and special programs including VR content that promises to push film making into the future. The four films listed below are my can't miss picks although there is so much more going on, you'll want to check out everything the festival has to offer.

6 Dynamic Laws for Success in Life, Love & Money
Directed by Gregory Bayne

A movie that looks like a classic noir genre film and feels like a funnier slant on Tarantino? Sign me up! 6 Dynamic Laws has all the makings of an an unexpectedly big hit and I can't wait to check it out.

Walking Out directed by Alex and Andrew Smith

This is easily the biggest film playing at the festival with a cast that includes Matt Bomer, Lilly Gladstone, and Bill Pullman and it looks fantastic. Just from the trailer, I can see why it played at Sundance and was picked up by IFC. Walking Out will definitely be a highlight of the festival.

The Watchman's Canoe directed by Barri Chase

If there was an award for cutest and most endearing film, The Watchman's Canoe would easily be the front runner. What's even better is how Barri Chase infuses her film with a really powerful message and some thought provoking ideas.

Zilla and Zoe directed by Jessica Scalise

Even though there's no trailer available, this looks looks like a really fun movie. Having a 10 year old aspiring film maker turn a wedding into a horror movie is a brilliant idea and sets the stage to explore lots of different themes and ideas. I'm hoping this turns out to be as fun s it sounds.

The 20th annual Local Sightings Film Festival is coming Sep. 22–30!

Local Sightings is Seattle’s only festival dedicated to Pacific Northwest films and filmmakers. Join us to celebrate this milestone festival with premieres, parties, dancing, cocktails, and the best in local emerging film talent.
