Grassroots (SIFF 2012) - Movie Review

"Grassroots" is a movie that tells the true story of struggling Seattle resident Phil Campbell (Jason Biggs) who, after losing his job at the Stranger, decides to become his best friend Grant Cogswell's (Joel David Moore) campaign manager for an unlikely run at a seat on the Seattle City Council in 2001. The film was directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal with an independent spirit that matches its subject matter and manages to entertain on multiple levels.

The Man With the Iron Fists - Trailer Debut

At the top of the poster it says "Quentin Tarantino Presents". That right there means this is going to be a badass kung fu action movie. Throw in the fact that it was written by Rza (who also directed) and Tim Roth and it just keeps getting better. Check out the Red Band trailer below!

Earthbound (SIFF 2012) - Movie Review

With "Earthbound", writer/director Alan Brennan has put together a very charming and intimate science fiction story as well as a sort of tribute to the movies and directors that helped to shape his own creative mind. You feel and see the influences from from Star Wars to Superman yet this remains a very unique story that is absolutely worth watching.

These days, expectations for any movie that has the Pixar name attached to it automatically comes with a set of lofty expectations as, up until recently, the studio could seemingly do no wrong with its animated feature films. Brave is yet another step forward for Pixar as it features the company's first female lead character in the fiery haired Princess Merida who defies a kingdom to change her fate.
