Welcome to the third installment of my 2025 Seattle International Film Festival powered journey through the world of cinema. This time around, I traveled through Spain, France, Argentina, and even the modest yet delightful Cat Town, USA. All three films seemed to have something really special to offer so I was pretty excited to see each one. Read below for the results!

Undercover
The Director: Arantxa Echevarría
The Cast: Carolina Yuste, Luis Tosar, Víctor Clavijo, Nausicaa Bonnín, Iñigo Gastesi
The Review:
Carolina Yuste is far and away the owner of my favorite acting performance out of all the movies I have watched during the festival and maybe even out of any movie I have watched so far this year. Arantxa Echevarría's political thriller is filled with tension from start to finish and the whole thing literally had me on the edge of my seat. Right off the bat, Echevarría makes it very apparent that danger is going to be an ever present feature of her latest film and the end result is an exhaustingly satisfying experience that will fit right at the top of my favorite films for this year's festival.
Cat City, USA
The Director: Jonathan Napolitano
The Cast: Bruce Jenkins, Terry Jenkins
The Review:
If you make a movie about cats, I will watch it and I will most likely love it. If you know me, you know that I had a cat named Flash for 14 years so any film featuring furry felines will always fit purrfectly into my watch list. Cat City, USA is a really nice documentary about Bruce and Terry Jenkins and their efforts in saving and protecting and revitalizing cats who may otherwise be lost or euthanized or just otherwise given up on by families who aren't able to take on the responsibility. It's always very inspiring to see stories like this and, as mentioned, bring on all the cat movies, I'm here for it!
The Wailing
The Director: Pedro Martín-Calero
The Cast: Ester Expósito, Mathilde Ollivier, Malena Villa
The Review:
I love horror movies. The genre just never gets old as it seems like there's an endless amount of stories that can be told to scare you, creep you out, or cause you to be emotionally disturbed, and yes, all in the sake of fun and entertainment. This movie takes its paranormal premise and pushes the audience inot a world that is genuinely scary and I just loved how director Pedro Martín-Calero slowly builds the tension higher and higher until hitting you right in the face with some tried and true jump scares. In a year so far filled with great horror movies, I'm sure this one will hold a place among my favorites.
