Rust (Ferrugem) - SIFF 2018 Capsule Review

The Movie: Rust (Ferrugem)

The Director: Aly Muritiba

The Cast: Tifanny Dopke, Giovanni De Lorenzi, Enrique Diaz, Clarissa Kiste, Igor Augustho

The Story: Tati and Renet were already trading pics, videos and music by their cell phones, and on the last school trip they started making eye contact. However, what could be the beginning of a love story, turns to an end.

The Review:
Aly Muritiba's second feature length film is a very interesting study on the various ways people deal with pain, guilt, heartache, anger, hate, and sorrow when an unexpected tragedy occurs. The pacing is very methodical which lets you sink into the story and take in all the emotions running through the various characters. It's a sad story and there isn't much in the way of a tidied up, happy ending but the exploration of emotion is well worth the effort.

Rust is an official selection of the 2018 Seattle International Film Festival.
