The Campaign (2012) - Movie Review
"The Campaign" brings together two of this generation's most popular comedians in Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis and puts them head to head against each other in a movie about politics, obscenity, greed, and just about anything else you can think of that can be used for laughs.

Total Recall (2012) - Movie Review
Everyone is familiar with the original Total Recall which featured Arnold Schwarzenegger in one of his most iconic performances. Adapted from a short story by Phillip K. Dick, Paul Verhoeven was able to create a campy science fiction adventure that really grabbed audiences at the time. Now, Colin Farrell is put in the lead role and director Len Wiseman is tasked with bringing a whole new version of the story to the screen.

For A Good Time, Call - Movie Review
Sometimes a movie you've never heard of comes out of nowhere and grabs your attention because it is just too entertaining to ignore. In the last few years, movies like "The Hangover" and "Bridesmaids" have come along and dominated the box office while redefining what a comedy can be. "For A Good Time, Call..." does a great job at exploring new territory while maintaining a great sense of nostalgia and familiarity.

Surprise Package Arrives on Friday
Yeah, this will be one the stranger blog posts you will ever see from me, but here goes. A few days ago, a package arrived in the mail which I was not expecting and I had no idea what it might be. When I opened the box, I found something that was pretty freaking awesome...in a strangely hilarious and disturbing sort of way. What was the item, you ask?
Check out the video below and you will see.

The Grey - Movie Review

When I first sat down to watch The Grey, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. The last movie I saw that was directed by Joe Carnahan was The A-Team which also had Liam Neeson in a starring role and was one of the best action movies I had seen in quite some time.

The Dark Knight Rises - Movie Review
From the first few moments of "Batman Begins", it was very clear that writer/director Christopher Nolan was setting up his vision of the caped crusader to become a spectacular odyssey that would completely change how the world looks at super heroes. "The Dark Knight" expanded on that overall theme while showing how evil and chaos could bring ruin to what was thought to be a city's greatest hope. To complete the trilogy properly, Nolan would need to bring the hero back from the depths while showing him what it means to truly become a legend.

The Woman Knight of Mirror Lake (SIFF 2012) - Movie Review
Set in late 19th century China, "The Woman Knight of Mirror Lake" is based on the true story of Qui Jin who embodied the quest for equality between men and women during a time of political revolt and upheaval. Her determination to affect change in her people would become a catalyst for removing the idealogical status-quo of the Qing Dynasty.

Moonrise Kingdom - Movie Review
I'm going to be completely honest and tell you that this is the first Wes Anderson movie that I have watched in its entirety. The one other movie of his that I have watched is "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" which I enjoyed so much that I fell asleep three times and had no interest in going back to watch the parts I missed. Wes Anderson fans, you can stop looking shocked and insulted as here is my review of "Moonrise Kingdom".

The Dark Knight Rises Featurette by Christopher Nolan
As we get closed and closer to the release of "The Dark Knight Rises", the general public is being inundated with a non stop barrage of marketing and advertising. If you want to stay completely in the dark and 100% spoiler-free, you pretty much have to lock yourself in your very own bat cave for the next week and a half.
Recently, a 13 minute featurette produced by Christopher Nolan himself was released to the internet and, while it gives some insight as to the overall feel of the movie, it stays vague enough not to give away anything we haven't already seen in trailers or other articles. If you're OK with this, then by all means continue on and check out the video, but otherwise now is when you want to return to your cave of ignorant bliss.

The Amazing Spider Man - Movie Review
After watching "The Amazing Spider Man", the first thing I wanted to do was punch Sony in the face. No really, I even Tweeted about it.
(Follow my Twitter feed HERE!)
Right now you might be asking why I would say/Tweet something like that. Well, you know those movies that start out with some crazy scene that doesn't make a whole lot of sense in that moment, but then the movie takes you back in time and begins telling you how what you just saw is ultimately the culmination of the entire story?
Thus begins my review...

Captain America: The First Avenger - Movie Review
"Captain America: The First Avenger" is the final installment of what is known as phase one in an ongoing series of movies created by Marvel Studios that are all filled with characters from their amazing roster of comic book super heroes. This buildup of cinematic awesomeness will lay the foundation for a perpetual universe creating opportunities for crossovers and combinations that audiences have never seen before.

Savages - Movie Review
"Savages" is yet another example of Oliver Stone's ability to generate that uniquely identifiable visual style and how he can draw out great performances from a star studded lineup of actors and actresses. This movie is overflowing with guns, drugs, sex, all kinds of attitude, and a cast of characters that is ready to kill each other at the drop of a hat.

Brave - Movie Review
*Review Number 100*
These days, expectations for any movie that has the Pixar name attached to it automatically comes with a set of lofty expectations as, up until recently, the studio could seemingly do no wrong with its animated feature films. Brave is yet another step forward for Pixar as it features the company's first female lead character in the fiery haired Princess Merida who defies a kingdom to change her fate.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - Movie Review
When you look at director Timur Bekmambetov's previous efforts like Nightwatch, Daywatch, and Wanted, you instantly think he would be a perfect fit to make a movie like "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". The examples I mentioned all have a visual style that is a ideal for a movie about how the 16th President of the United States wages a war against the undead while leading the nation towards freedom and equality.

Lola Versus - Movie Review
"Lola Versus" is a very well written and perfectly cast story about a young woman who's life suddenly falls apart just as she thinks it may have reached perfection. From this point forward we see the not so young 20-something struggle to come to terms with love, friendship, family, and most importantly herself.

The Sorcerer And The White Snake (SIFF 2012) - Movie Review
"The Sorcerer and the White Snake" is a highly stylized, action packed adventure that relies heavily on martial arts action while telling a classic story of forbidden love. Jet Li, Shengyi Huang, and Raymond Lam star in this fantastic tale that was pulled from an ancient Chinese legend.

How many times have you gone to watch a horror movie and walked out having not been scared except for maybe one or two jump moments? Many films in the genre promise a scary, tension- filled experience, but few are actually able to deliver. The makers of "V/H/S" hope to give audiences what they have been missing.

Game of Werewolves aka Lobos de Arga (SIFF 2012) Movie Review
Spanish film maker Juan MartÃnez Moreno did not set out to parody or make fun of the horror movie genre although a movie that combines scares with comedy can easily be viewed in that light. "Lobos de Arga", known as "Game of Werewolves" in the United States, successfully pulls off a beastly film that provides just the right amount of scares and laughter to keep fans of both genres happy.
