12 Hour Shift - Movie Review

The Movie: 12 Hour Shift

Mick Foley

The Story: Bodies start to pile up when a drug-user nurse and her cousin try to find a replacement kidney for an organ trafficker.

The Review:
You ever wonder what really happens in hospitals where doctors and nurses are working an endless amount of hours and are willing to do anything to get a moment's rest or maybe sneak away a kidney that they can sell on the black market? Well, this is the movie for you! Filled with blood and bad decisions, this is one of the more entertaining movies I have watched this year. Director Brea Grant holds nothing back in just about every aspect of this film with an emphasis on the unexpected.

Angela Bettis plays Mandy, a nurse working way too many hours and fuels herself with underhanded deeds and whatever drugs she can get her hands on. In a movie filled with crazy characters, Bettis is clearly the star of this movie a she holds her own in every situation her character is thrown into and holy crap she goes through a lot. Along for the ride is Chloe Farnworth who is absolutely hilarious as a woman who may not be the smartest person in the room but she makes up for it in sheer enthusiasm and a strong sense of self preservation. We also get some really great cameos from David Arquette and former WWE superstar Mick Foley.

When I sat down to watch the movie, I was expecting a wild ride as it was getting rave reviews after successful screenings at Fantasia's virtual festival although even that didn't prepare me for what this movie had in store. Seriously, the craziness never lets up and as the story progresses, the stakes get higher, the intensity gets cranked up, and the blood gets, well. Bloodier, if that's a thing. Speaking of blood, there's more than enough to go around as people get shot, stabbed, smashed, pummeled, operated on, and just about any other way someone's blood would end up in places it was never intended to be.

The Verdict:
12 Hour Shift is a super fun, crazy intense, and bloody as hell horror comedy. Horror fans are going to be requesting overtime and double shifts for this one.
