Enormous: The Gorge Story - 2019 SIFF Documentary Review

The Documentary: Enormous: The Gorge Story

The Director: Nic Davis

The Story: "The Gorge" has brought over 7 million fans, and the world's biggest musicians, to a patch of rural Washington farmland "150 miles from nowhere."

The Review:
If you've ever been to the gorge, you can appreciate the beauty and scale and spectacle and breathtaking views that this one of a kind concert venue provides. Now, this documentary fills in the historical significance of how it all started, who came up with the idea, and how it evolved into one of the most sought after locations in concert history for both performers and fans alike.

Director Nic Davis does a great job of getting to the heart of this location which is about as remote of a place as you could imagine for bringing people together for a shared music experience. He compiles tons of concert and behind the scenes footage, most of which you have probably never seen before and mixes in some really great interviews with the care takers of the property as well as some of the most significant guests.

Hearing from artists like Dave Matthews, Jason Mraz, and so many others as they recall their times at The Gorge in such a loving and appreciative fashion, you can tell that performing there is just as special to them as it is for the people who attend their shows.

Enormous: The Gorge Story is an official selection of the 2019 Seattle International Film Festival.
