Assassin's Creed - Movie Review

The Movie: Assassin's Creed

The Director: Justin Kurzel

The Cast: Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Brendan Gleeson, Callum Turner, Essie Davis, Jeremy Irons, and Michael K Williams

The Story: When Callum Lynch explores the memories of his ancestor Aguilar and gains the skills of a Master Assassin, he discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society.

The Review:
Video game properties have always had a tough time translating to the big screen so there was a lot of speculation as to how this movie would turn out. The idea seems perfect for the type of franchise property that could go on for at least a few films although, based on the end result, I'm not sure if the studio will be willing to go any farther than this first installment. From what I understand, this is a project that Michael Fassbender has been wanting to produce and star in for a long time and he put a lot of effort into getting it done. I feel like all the right pieces were in place for a great movie, but for some reason, the end result just wasn't very interesting.

The Verdict:
Assassin's Creed should and could have been much better than it was. There isn't really anything wrong with it, it's just not interesting or memorable at all.
