TwoOhSix Picks - Portland Film Festival

As our never ending quest for world domination continues, it is time to add another film festival to the roster of TwoOhSix.com approved events. The Portland Film Festival is the biggest and most outgoing summer movie event in the Northwest and, this year, there are over 250 hours of indie films, comedies, documentaries, shorts, music videos, and more. After perusing the schedule, I have hand picked a selection of films you are not going to want to miss.

Along with a very strong roster of narrative features, documentaries, and short films, guests can attend workshops, networking opportunities, parties, talks, classes, behind-the-scene tours and red carpets—some of which are are still TBA. Plus, enjoy craft beer, specialty food, and all kinds of bands and musicians. Participating venues include Cinema 21, Living Room Theaters, The Mission Theater, Clinton Street Theater, and the #PDXFF15 Official Headquarters.

The festival will then be capped by a final day of awards presentations and a very special event called Zombie Day which will include a film shoot for “Zombie Day Apocalypse.” The film will be directed by George C. Romero Jr. (son of famed zombie director George A. Romero), written by Randall Jahnson (“The Doors” and “The Mask of Zorro”), and is set in an undisclosed location in Portland, Oregon. The film is attempting to set the Guinness World Record for most extras in a short film.

The Portland Film Festival is a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing filmmakers and audiences, and to celebrating the power of a good story. The festival focuses on the people, ideas, technology, skills and artistry behind film making and provides both entertaining and educational opportunities to the public and filmmakers.
