2013 Seattle International Film Festival - Preview

The 2013 Seattle International Film Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever with well over 400 films spread out over eleven different screening locations in and around the greater Seattle area. The selection of films has been brought in from 85 different countries and includes 49 world premiere presentations. Are all these crazy stats making you SIFFCurious? Read on for more info on this year's festival!

You may have heard about the big Opening Night Gala which will not only feature a screening of Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing, but the director himself along with members of the cast will be on hand for a Q&A after the movie. Want to get tickets? Too bad, every single one of them sold out in just a few hours after being released.

On May 2nd, the full schedule of films will be released and individual tickets will go on sale to the general public. My recommendation is to buy one of the ticket packages now and then redeem your vouchers for whatever movies you decide on attending. It seriously took me like a week last year to piece together my own personal SIFF schedule.

Once the schedule has been posted online, you will be able to sort by different categories like genre or country, but you will want to check out how the SIFF programmers have put everything into what they call "Moods" which are essentially groupings of movies based on what your personal likes and dislikes are. This makes for a really unique and fun way to explore everything this year's festival has to offer while making it easier to navigate the sheer volume of what's available.

SIFF always features some very cool guest appearances and this year promises to be the best yet for all you stargazers out there. We already discussed how the one and only Joss Whedon will be in attendance along with the likes of Amy Acker, Nathan Fillion, Reed Diamond, and Clark Gregg, but of course that is just the beginning.

The roster of celebrity sightings this year will include local Washington product Kyle Maclachlan and legendary director Peter Greenaway who will each be getting an event dedicated to their vast achievements and wealth of knowledge within the industry. For now, that's everything we know, but trust me when I tell you...there will be more.

Stay tuned to this website for more updates as I will be posting all kinds of stuff about this year's festival and also pay close attention to SIFF's very own website (See: HERE) for the official word on what's going on day in and day out. Thank you for checking out our preview of the 2013 Seattle International Film Festival, we've got a lot more on the way!
