Official Secrets - SIFF 2019 Capsule Review

The Movie: Official Secrets

The Director:

The Cast: Keira Knightley, Matt Smith, Ralph Fiennes, Matthew Goode, Rhys Ifans

The Story: The true story of a British whistleblower who leaked information to the press about an illegal NSA spy operation designed to push the UN Security Council into sanctioning the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

The Review:
This is Gavin Hood's first film since Eye in the Sky which also shed light on questionable activity from the U.S. government. Keira Knightley is pretty freaking amazing in the lead role and also look for a strong performance from Ralph Fiennes because that's kind of what he does. If you enjoyed Spotlight then this is definitely a film you want to check out as it has a very similar tone and style.

Official Secrets is an official selection of the 2019 Seattle International Film Festival.

Skyfall - Movie Review

After too long of a wait (MGM bankruptcy issues), Bond is back and quite possibly better than ever! With Skyfall, Daniel Craig continues his successful run as 007 along with Judy Dench as MI6 leader "M" in a movie that turns the spy game inside out. Lots of new characters are introduced, both good and bad, and Sam Mendes has now taken over the directing duties for the longest running franchise in movie history.

Wrath of the Titans - Movie Review

Thanks to the unbelievable success of "Avatar", which came out in December of 2009 and crushed box office records, the "Clash of the Titans" remake that was set to be released just a couple months later was rushed through a 3D post conversion so the movie studio could capitalize on the sudden popularity of the technology.

When the movie was released in early 2010, it opened to huge success, but audiences quickly turned on it due to a really bad 3D transfer that gave people headaches more than it wow'd them. For "Wrath of the Titans" to succeed, this problem would have to be eliminated.
